Whoop! It's a Kelly Thompson and Tom Taylor week! That means Hawkeye, Rogue & Gambit, and now X-Men Red. I can't remember if this is my last issue of Hawkeye, or if there is going to be one more. You guys, some of these are unfairly short-lived! Kate has had a wonderful story, though. I jumped on the All-New Wolverine train a little late, but I plan on going back and getting her earlier issues that I missed. It's sad that her story is also ending, but she's going to be in X-Men Red (written by the same author), so she isn't gone.
The Daredevil cover looks twisted, but in the best possible way. The Spider-Man Deadpool covers are always weird.
The Infinity Countdown is supposed to be what follows All-New Guardians of the Galaxy now that it has ended. Same author, different story.
They just started doing Hulk Variants for some of the comic covers, and these are two that we're getting! My kid is crazy for the Hulk. He doesn't necessarily read the comics, but he loves the covers and the cartoon Hulk. He'll Hulk Smash things when he gets mad, haha.
Have you started reading anything new?
Is that a giant gopher on one of the covers? Beaver? What is that? Lol
ReplyDeleteI had to ask Jacob! Alopex is an artic fox. ๐คท
DeleteTotally unrelated but I see you're reading The Cruel Prince. I'm staring it today. I hope :-)

Yes! I started it last night. I wasn't expecting how dark it was going to be from the beginning. Pleasantly surprised so far! I can't wait to see what you think.
DeleteWhat do you think of Hawkeye? I've heard things about his earlier series but I didn't pick them up- like the character though. That cover looks cool. Is it me or are Marvel's covers getting a little better?
ReplyDeleteThis Hawkeye is Kate Bishop instead of Clint Barton! And I REALLY like her comic! It's ending either this month or next, but I can't remember. *cries*
DeleteI love all the different covers, too! There are some old-school covers I like, but the new stuff rocks.
Why are they ending so many series?? They try for new readers then have cancel-o-rama. Marvel needs to get their act together!!
DeleteI think it depends on your perspective. Hawkeye has what 15-16 issues? That means it's been going on for a little over a year. Gwenpool is ending, and she has almost 30 issues, so her comic has been ongoing for nearly three years. The numbers may seem small, but those comics have actually been around for years. Also, stopping something and picking it up later with a new story allows new readers to feel like they are getting to start from the beginning, and not in the middle.
DeleteGreat haul!!
ReplyDeleteI love Wednesday's, lol!
DeleteOoh nice! I'm so curious about Spider Man - Deadpool. Intriguing!! I need to read more comics. I tend to read the graphic novel collections (so like Volume 1, etc.) instead of individual issues.

The Spider-Man/Deadpool relationship is interesting. I love reading their stories and seeing how they interact with each other, because their personalities could not be more different. It's definitely a bromance, though. ๐
DeleteI'm really enjoying these posts. I love the graphics you choose. I also see Gambit up there! :D
ReplyDeleteRogue & Gambit will only have 5 issues, so a lot happens very quickly! I'm really liking it so far. I'm glad you're enjoying the posts! The images I use are the covers for those comics. It's like using a book's cover when I post a review. :)
DeleteI hope you enjoy all these new reads! I never read the comics, but I always had a soft spot for Rogue when I watched the show as a kid. I might need to check out Rogue & Gambit. Happy reading!
ReplyDeleteI like to read comics between books! It's similar to a change of scenery, and allows my brain to finish processing one book before starting another. The illustrations are gorgeous, and I love their individual stories.
DeleteIf you like Rogue & Gambit, it's only going to be 5 issues! It wouldn't be a long commitment, and it's been really great so far.
I've always wanted to get into comics, but I could never find one that held my attention for longer than a few pages. Anyhow, happy reading! :)
ReplyDeleteI hope you eventually find one that you like! There are so many to choose from!
