My Weekly Pull [27] & Can't-Wait Wednesday [2]

My Weekly Pull is something I do every Wednesday to show which comics I had pulled for me that week! If you're into comics, or you're looking to start, please join me! If you decide to do your own post, leave a link in the comments. I would love to stop by and check it out!

Ant-Man & The Wasp #2 (of 5) by Mark Waid, Javier GarrΓ³n (Illustrator), David Nakayama (Illustrator) *Last month they accidently used the #3 cover for #2, so I have made adjustments to that post as well as this one. This is the correct cover for #2, but the third issue is being released this week.

Hunt for Wolverine Weapon Lost #3 (of 4) by Charles Soule, Matteo Buffagni (Illustrator), Declan Shalvey (Illustrator)

Infinity Countdown Champions #2 (of 2) by Jim Zub, Clayton Crain

It's a really short list this week, which is actually a good thing! I have a lot of comics that I need to catch up on, and my wallet will get a nice reprieve, lol. There were two or three that we decided to stop reading, so that narrowed things down a bit. Lately I've been enjoying the first few issues of a comic, but then lose interest. A story has to make me want to keep coming back.

Can't Wait Wednesday is a weekly event, hosted by Tressa at Wishful Endings, that highlights upcoming releases that we're anticipating and excited to read. It's a spinoff of the feature Waiting on Wednesday that was hosted by Jill at Breaking the Spine.

See All the Stars by Kit Frick
Expected publication: August 14, 2018
Synopsis (via Goodreads) Part love story, part thriller, We Were Liars meets Goodbye Days in this suspenseful, lyrical debut.

It’s hard to find the truth beneath the lies you tell yourself.

THEN They were four—Bex, Jenni, Ellory, Ret. Electric, headstrong young women; Ellory’s whole solar system.

NOW Ellory is alone, her once inseparable group of friends torn apart by secrets, deception, and a shocking incident that changed their lives forever.

THEN Lazy summer days. A party. A beautiful boy. Ellory met Matthias and fell into the beginning of a spectacular, bright love.

NOW Ellory returns to Pine Brook to navigate senior year after a two-month suspension and summer away—no boyfriend, no friends. No going back. Tormented by some and sought out by others, troubled by a mysterious note-writer who won’t let Ellory forget, and consumed by guilt over her not entirely innocent role in everything and everyone she’s lost, Ellory finds that even in the present, the past is everywhere.

The path forward isn’t a straight line. And moving on will mean sorting the truth from the lies—the lies Ellory has been telling herself.

    1. I keep looking at it, but I can't tell if the colored lines have little images in them... can you?

  4. Good for you to stop a comic series when its not doing it for you. I've done that with a couple book series lately and it frees me up to try others that are more my thing.

Oh, good pick for your book. The thriller quality sounds like it will offer some good intensity.

    1. Truth! I do it with comics and books... it has to be something I'm enjoying and looking forward to, or it's just not worth it. I'd rather spend my time doing something I love, not forcing myself through something that's okay.

  5. This sounds really good, may be with lots of twists! And the cover is really cool. Thanks for sharing😁

    1. The cover for this is amazing! It's unique and I just want to stare at it, lol. I'm hoping for a lot of unexpected twists, and I'm curious how a love story is going to fit in.

  6. See All the Stars sounds like a good one. I have seen the cover before but this was the first time I have actually read the description and I think it sounds like something I would enjoy as well.

    1. I feel like I added it on Goodreads ages ago without reading the synopsis. Sometimes I add books based on their covers alone, and there was just something about this one that really intrigued me. After reading the synopsis, I knew I'd made the right choice in adding it! <3

  7. Oooo I like the sound of this book. Sounds like it's set in dual timelines? Liking that even more! Thanks for sharing. :)

    1. I think so? That's the impression I got from the synopsis! I love it when books do duel timelines, especially when they are before and after.

  8. I'm actually getting super excited for Ant Man and the Wasp at the movies, starts tomorrow! Woot! The comic looks fun. I'm pretty burned out on all the Infinity/ Thanos stuff though- ugh. they never seem to stop with that- I mean I know with the movie that's to be expected, but as someone who's been reading a long time, I'm SO over thanos. lol

I just read the first three issues of The Jetsons by DC. Over at 11comic.com. Pretty good. I know, I know the Jetsons... but it's reimagined by the Harley Quinn husband/ wife team, and the art is awesome.

    1. Hard. Same. I STILL haven't seen the newest Avengers movie, but I already feel pretty over it. I do want to watch it eventually, but Thanos has been around and around. He's in a ton of the comics I'm reading, and I just want another villain, you know?

Yay for Ant-Man and the Wasp! Super pumped about it, but have to wait for the DVD, haha. The kiddos are still too little for a theater.

Uhm, I used to watch The Jetsons ALL THE TIME. It was one of my favorite shows growing up. I had no idea they'd made a comic! It's definitely something I'd want to check out, so thanks for letting me know. I haven't read any of the Harley Quinn stuff, so I don't know anything about their writing, but I trust you. And awesome art for the win! :)

    2. I think you'll like it if you're a Jetsons fan! It's got a bit of a post apocalyptic take, and the kids are a little older (boyfriend/ girlfriend type stuff) but I liked it. And everything is in the clouds/ sky like in the show- I love all the futuristic little amenities they have. I stumbled on it and loved it!

    3. Does George still work for his angry-all-the-time boss, or was that The Flintstones? It's been so long I can't remember, lol! I love the idea of a post-apocalyptic setting--super interesting. It would be fun to see what the kids look like now! Oh! What about the dog? Weren't he and George best friends?

I'm so excited for this! <3

    4. You should check it out! Yes George still works for Mr Spacely at Sprocket (I think I have the names right) although George isn't quite as much a doofus. Jane is a scientist now, she doesn't just shop lol, and the dog is there too (although he hasn't done much yet). I highly recommend!

    5. Okay! You've convinced me! :)

I love that Jane is a scientist now! I hope the dog gets more attention, lol.

  12. I've been seeing ads and stuff for the Ant Man and the Wasp movie! Sorry you've been losing interest in a lot of comics. But yeah, I agree, if you're not feeling it anymore, why force yourself to continue? Still a bummer though!

    1. Eh, it's okay! We just don't see the point in getting something every week/month if we're not loving it. We could spend that money on trying something new! <3

There have been a lot of Marvel movies lately, but I'm really excited for Ant-Man and the Wasp. I love all the characters and the people portraying them!

Sorry to hear you haven't been loving all the comics you've been reading, but sometimes narrowing things down IS a good thing.
