I'm really curious about what Mark Millar will do with Magic Order. I think it has the potential to be really interesting (despite the naked shapeshifter), and like that it seems to focus on a family and their roles within the group. I have a feeling it's going to be sad based on some of the information given in the last issue, but also fascinating because of the monsters they fight on behalf of the world.
I have no idea how they plan to end Hunt for Wolverine, but there are multiple groups of people looking for him. Not all of those groups are searching to be helpful, and I want to know if their different stories will eventually crossover into one ending.
Are you reading any good comics this week? Let me know!
*This My Weekly Pull was briefly posted yesterday before I realized I didn't need to do it a day early! I was supposed to be participating in a blog tour, but I had my dates mixed up. Everything worked out in the end, because now this one is posted on the correct day, and I was able to post about the release of Like Never and Always by Ann Aguirre. If you're interested in the book, there's also a giveaway... just go to the post before this one. If you commented on this before I took it down, my apologies! Your comments are still there, but they're likely not going to show the same date as the post.

That cover of Magic Order is pretty amazing. Runaways I'm still unsure about... I need to go back and finish the Vaughn originals anyway, everything will probably make more sense if I'm caught up!
ReplyDeleteHunt for Wolverine has me curious just because I'm wondering what they'll do when they find him! Like will he rejoin the X-Men, or do his own thing or ??
I've only read the first issue of Magic Order, but I think it has a very Greg-like vibe! You should definitely try this one. It's not superheroes or The Jetsons, but it has magic and monsters... a corrupt magical group within a larger society. Badass magic that also makes you cringe a little, and it's pretty dark in some places.
ReplyDeleteI'm really behind on Runaways, but I keep getting them every month just in case... I should probably catch up so I know I'm not wasting my time/money on something I don't like. The first few were good, but I'm missing a few in the middle.
The different mini series surrounding Hunt for Wolverine are only four issues each... so they'll be ending soon. It's still unclear who or what took Wolverine, if he came back to life on his one, or what the plan is for his body. The few glimpses I've seen have me wondering if it's even Wolverine at all, so maybe someone stole him for his DNA? When he died, he was finally at peace, so maybe they'll give that back to him... I honestly have no idea where they're going to go with this one.
Greg- like vibe ha ha! I may have to try that...
DeleteRunaways is like Saga with me... I lost interest and never went back. although I liked Runaways more... I need to catch up.
That does sound... kinda iffy. I hope it turns out to be a good story. I personally liked the older Wolverine before they told us everything about his origins. To me less was more...
Less was definitely more... I think part of his original appeal was the mystery, but then they took that away with his origin stories. Now there are too many Wolverines to keep up with, lol.
DeleteI hope Rainbow Rowell's Runaways staying interesting, but I REALLY need to catch up soon.
Greg-like vibe is totally a thing! ;)
I'm really curious about Magic Order. And I really do need to check out Runaways. Thanks for sharing!!

The first issue of Magic Order was good, so I have high hopes for the second! I like to at least read the first three issues of a new series before having an opinion. Sometimes it takes time to present a story and the relevant background information. :)
Deletesome intriguing illustrations!
ReplyDeleteDefinitely! <3
DeleteI don't read comics but I'm always interested what you've gotten each week.
ReplyDeleteThanks! I love to share what I'm getting. <3
