My Weekly Pull [32]

My Weekly Pull is something I do every Wednesday to show which comics I had pulled for me that week! If you're into comics, or you're looking to start, please join me! If you decide to do your own post, leave a link in the comments. I would love to stop by and check it out!

Amazing Spider-Man #3 by Nick Spencer, Ryan Ottley
Amazing Spider-Man Renew Your Vows #22 by Jody Houser, Scott Koblish, Eduard Petrovich
Domino #5 by Gail Simone, David Baldeon, Greg Land
Hunt for Wolverine Adamantium Agenda #4 (of 4) by Tom Taylor, R.B. Silva

Jacob's comics for the week!

Optimus Prime #22 by John Barber, Kei Zama
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Bebop and Rocksteady Hit the Road #2 (of 5) by Ben Bates, Nick Pitarra
Transformers Unicron #3 (of 6) by John Barber, Nick Roche
Daredevil #606 by Charles Soule, Phil Noto
Spider-Man Annual #1 by Bryan Edward Hill, Nelson Blake II, Kris Anka
Spider-Man Deadpool #37 by Robbie Thompson, Jim Towe, Dave Johnson

I haven't actually started the new Amazing Spider-Man, but I have the first two issues lined up to read this week. I've been working on getting through my stack of comics since getting back from visiting relatives. I always plan on reading while I'm away, but it never works. I think I read ten pages of a book while I was gone, so I've been trying to catch up the last few days.

I've always enjoyed Spider-Man, which is one of the reasons I like Amazing Spider-Man Renew Your Vows so much, but I've always thought that jumping into the ongoing series for Amazing Spider-Man would be too daunting of a task. However, now there's a new writer (used to be Dan Slott), so the story is getting a new start. I'll let you know how that goes!

Domino is flipping fantastic! I love her humor and the randomness of her ability. Luck isn't always lucky, but she makes it work. Her history is also really interesting. Now that I know more about the villains, it's hard to hate them as much. They've suffered for their differences, too. They're trying to make things right the only way they know how -- through violence. It's all they've ever known, and it's hard to remain unaffected by so much cruelty. Their relationship to Domino is bizarre and fascinating, but really unfortunate. It's not her fault, but she's their target nonetheless.

I'm actually really worried about Domino's posse. Her friends are trying to do the right thing, but I think they acted impulsively (out of love for their friend), and now bad stuff is inevitable. These villains are nasty, and I don't see how this story will end well for everyone. If you're looking for a new comic to start, I cannot recommend this one enough. (I'm so using this as my review for Domino on Goodreads and Amazon, haha!)

This is the last issue of Hunt for Wolverine Adamantium Agenda! I honestly have no idea how this group is going to get through everything unscathed. Someone is bound to lose something... All of the Hunt for Wolverine comics should be concluding, so I guess we'll see if anyone actually found the Wolverine. It's been fun to watch the different groups get together to search for him/his body.

  1. The Hulk was the Marvel character I was most obsessed with most of my childhood, Lol. I rewatched every single version with my grandma (I made her watch them with me).

    1. My son loves the Hulk! He tells everyone his name is Bruce Banner, haha. I tried reading one of the new She-Hulk comics earlier this year, but it was meh for me. I stopped after 11, I think. The series didn't continue long after that. There is a new Hulk comic my husband was enjoying. Amadeus Cho is hilarious! He makes a few appearances in the ongoing Domino series I'm reading.

  5. I need to check out the Wolverine one. I love that character. I also see Rogue and I think... where is Gambit??? :D So need to see that character in a film at lest!

    1. Rogue isn't in any of these! :)

She's in one of the Hunt for Wolverine series (Mystery in Madripoor), but none of these! I think you're looking at the Domino cover and thinking of Rogue... she has a white streak in her hair, so it would be easy to mix the two unless you're looking closely (or super familiar with both characters).

There is a new comic called Mr. & Mrs. X -- it's about Rogue and Gambit getting married, so you would probably enjoy that! It's also written by Kelly Thompson, and I've loved her writing in the past (All-New Hawkeye is one of my favorites!).

Which character are you wanting to see in a film? Rogue or Gambit? They're both in the X-Men movies, Rogue more than Gambit, but they're there! I'm not sure if I've seen Gambit in anything else. He's also in the X-Men Red comic by Tom Taylor. He's with Laura and Gabby (Wolverine and Honey Badger), so you might like that one, too!

  6. Domino looks fantastic and I love that cover! So far all the covers for her series seem to be good so far. The Hunt for Wolverine cover is pretty good too. Why is he being so hard to find lol?

  7. I've really enjoyed all of Domino's covers so far, too!

Okay, so Wolverine died. That's how all of these start... his body was encased in Adamantium, which was the only way he could be killed. I can't remember how they made sure he was dead and not trapped, but I'm assuming they did. Then Reavers come and try to steal the body that they've left in like a shrine for his burial place. Of course it's guarded (think of all the things people could do with his DNA/body), and a battle ensues.

After their fight, Kitty has the bright idea to phase him out of the Adamantium so they can burry him properly and secretly. I don't know why she didn't think about this before, but she does it now. Once his body is free, Beast runs a million tests to confirm that Wolverine is in fact dead and doesn't regenerate. Then they have a funeral.

A few days later, Kitty (I think) is talking to Wolverine at his grave. Something makes her feel weird, so she phases her arm into the ground to check for his body -- it's not here. The grave also doesn't appear to have been disturbed, so... Kitty breaks into Iron Man's house (sooo funny) to ask for his help finding Wolverine/his body. See... they don't know who took Wolverine or why. He could be cloned, his DNA harvested, someone could be possessing his body -- the possibilities are endless.

Then Kitty enlists the help of Daredevil, and the three of them gather their individual teams. Iron Man chooses Luke Cage, Jessica Jones and Spider-Man. Daredevil chooses an Inhuman, Frank, and Misty Knight (there's eventually a fourth Cypher). Kitty chooses a group of women -- Rogue, Domino, Storm, Jubilee, and I think that's it. I might be missing someone. Each team sets out to look for Wolverine in their own way.

Then we have the team of villains -- Daken, Sabertooth, and Lady Deathstrike (I appologize for any misspellings, lol). They want to find Wolverine/his body to kill it/make sure it's destroyed. They all hate Wolverine.

Now there are four mini-series with the same agenda, but very different outcomes. So far... no one has found THE Wolverine, but they've found... other things. Most are already on their fourth issue, so the stories should be concluding. There's Hunt for Wolverine Claws of a Killer (bad guys), Hunt for Wolverine Adamantium Agenda (Iron Man's team), Hunt for Wolverine Mystery in Madripoor (the team of women), and Hunt for Wolverine Weapon Lost (Daredevil's team). They can be read together or individually. Their stories haven't crossed since the one-shot (Hunt for Wolverine) that set everything up.

Phew! I think that covers it... <3

    2. Wow that's quite the story. I'm curious why Daredevil of all people was recruited, doesn't seem like he's have much of a Wolvie connection, but maybe they do now. I'm out of the loop. Sounds good though. I do think th women team sounds like a lot of fun! I've always liked PSylocke and Rogue (heck Storm too).

So... do the readers know where Wolvie is, and the characters don't, or is it a mystery still? Now I'm curious to see what they come up with. :) I hope it's good!

    3. They all have some connection to Wolverine, but I'm having trouble remembering Daredevil's. The different stories give a little backstory to fill you in on how everyone knows Wolverine, but most were stories I was unfamiliar with.

No, I have no idea where Wolverine is, or if he's even alive. I think I've narrowed down which team might possibly find him, but I could be wrong. Three teams have had... complications, because there isn't just a single Wolverine out there. There are different variations of him that have been created over time or appeared from alternate dimensions. Narrowing it down has been a challenge. Everything should be wrapping up this month, so we'll see if anything comes of it!

Let me know what you think if you decide to pick this one up! Domino is an awesome character, and her story has been really great so far. Deadpool has made a few appearances, and her two closest friends are interesting on their own. :)
