My Weekly Pull [37] & Can't Wait Wednesday [7]

My Weekly Pull is something I do every Wednesday to show which comics I had pulled for me that week! If you're into comics, or you're looking to start, please join me! If you decide to do your own post, leave a link in the comments. I would love to stop by and check it out!

Domino #6 by Gail Simone, David Baldeon, Greg Land
Runaways #13 by Rainbow Rowell, Kris Anka

Jacob's comics for the week!
Amazing Spider-Man #5 by Nick Spencer, Ryan Ottley
Daredevil #608 by Charles Soule, Phil Noto
Infinity Wars #3 (of 6) by Gerry Duggan, Mike Deodato, Ron Lim
Peter Parker The Spectacular Spider-Man #309 by Chip Zdarsky, Chris Bachalo
Venom First Host #3 (of 5) by Mike Costa, Mark Bagley, Dave Johnson

Ahh! Those covers! I love what the artists come up with each week -- so lovely! I really like the Domino cover because we get to see all the different versions she's been throughout various comics. The one in the middle -- yes, the one between her breasts -- looks like the Domino from Hunt for Wolverine Mystery in Madripoor. I'm not as familiar with the others.

The Runaways covers are always fun and a little magical!

I'm pretty positive I will eventually read Venom First Host, but I'm still trying to get through the older Venom series I started months ago. I've barely had time to read my ongoing comics, so trying to squeeze in an older series has been challenging. I feel like I have no time these days! Are you finding the time to read everything you want to?

Can't Wait Wednesday is a weekly event, hosted by Tressa at Wishful Endings, that highlights upcoming releases that we're anticipating and excited to read. It's a spinoff of the feature Waiting on Wednesday that was hosted by Jill at Breaking the Spine

Diamond Fire (Hidden Legacy, #3.5)
by Ilona Andrews
Expected publication: November 6th 2018
Synopsis (via Goodreads): Nevada Frida Baylor and Connor Ander Rogan cordially invite you to join their wedding celebration. Summoning, weather manipulation, and other magical activities strictly forbidden.

Catalina Baylor is looking forward to wearing her maid of honor dress and watching her older sister walk down the aisle. Then the wedding planner gets escorted off the premises, the bride’s priceless tiara disappears, and Rogan's extensive family overruns his mother’s home. Someone is cheating, someone is lying, and someone is plotting murder.

To make this wedding happen, Catalina will have to do the thing she fears most: use her magic. But she’s a Baylor and there’s nothing she wouldn't do for her sister's happiness. Nevada will have her fairy tale wedding, even if Catalina has to tear the mansion apart brick by brick to get it done.

The Hidden Legacy series is one of my all-time favorites! I flipped when the authors announced this book via a wedding invitation on Twitter. Conner and Nevada's wedding -- eeeeep! I still can't believe Diamond Fire is listed as a novella... it has 384 pages! I'm not complaining -- the more pages, the better! When I started this series, I think I devoured the first three books within a week. Great characters, fantastic family dynamics, a brilliant story, magic, steamy sex -- what more could you want?

Read my reviews for Burn for me, White Hot and Wildfire.

  1. Another killer Domino cover. Dang it I may need to get those. I bet the TPB will be cool looking. And I remember when I was buying a ton of comics- I would never seem to get through them and then it would be Wednesday again and I had more pulled. Argh.

    1. Yes, you really need to try Domino! I think the current arc is about to end, unless the villain pulls something out of their ass... which is possible in comics, haha. I try to read comics between books, but it's hard when I have ARCs to review by a certain day. There are so many things I want to read!

    2. I know, there's just not enough time! Same here. I have like a stack of graphic novels I HAD to have and they're sitting unread. Ugh. It got a little better when I stopped buying weekly and just collected trades, but even those I'm barely getting to!

    3. I'm really enjoying the comics I have, and I want to keep getting them, but they start to stack up after awhile. I tell myself to read them as soon as I get them, but that never works. There's only one day a year where we get more time... Daylight Savings. I guess I'll save everything for that extra hour. ;)

  2. I thought I wouldn't be able to get hardly any reading done this month, but so far I'm actually doing pretty good. I just finished an ARC that I will have to post a review for soon, and then I have 3 other ARCs I need to read and review for the authors as well. *sigh* So much to do and read, and so little time in one day.

    1. Nice! I feel like I haven't had time to just sit down and get lost in a book. I'm able to read for a little bit at night before bed, but my days have been crazy busy this month. It's a bummer because the books I'm reading are really great!

    2. At work I have an hour break where I can read, and then I have a couple minutes before work where I can read, but other than that I have to be willing to stay up late to read more. And then days off help too. Which book are you currently reading?

    3. All the books on the right sidebar... haha! Rule, Winter, Mosquitoland, Norse Mythology, and when I grab my next comic it'll be West Coast Avengers. It's the one on top of my stack! I adore the cover for it, too. I'm really enjoying all of them, so I have a hard time choosing which one to read when I have a moment.

It's great that you have some time before and during work! I only have time during the day if all three of my kiddos nap at the same time. It doesn't happen very often anymore.

  3. I read an arc of the first book YEARS ago (I loved it!) and I have the 2nd but haven't gotten to it yet. That's a LONG novella lol

    1. Karen! You have book two and you haven't read it?! Ahem, when you have time... you should totally knock out the other two books in this series -- sooo good! Then you'll be ready to read the insanely long novella with me. <3

  4. I still need to read the Runaways comics. And wow, that IS a long novella - maybe they are calling it a novella just because it takes place between books. lol

    1. I've been enjoying the Runaways comic! Rainbow Rowell knows her stuff. The novella may be long, but I think it's only going to be about their wedding (yay!). Conner and Nevada can never do something the easy way, and they're currently dealing with a lot of problems... so I'm thinking some of those problems might come to the wedding. Regardless, I'm excited to read it! :)

    1. Where did you grab it?! I've been looking all over for a copy! I'm ordering a copy for sure, but I was looking for any opportunity to read it earlier. I'm addicted to this series, lol. :)

  7. Ah I can't wait for Diamond Fire either! It's going to be awesome. Sucks it's a novella but seeing as it bridges Nevada and Catalina's trilogies I get it. :)

    1. It's an incredibly long novella, so I'm happy! I didn't realize the next book was going to be from Catalina's perspective. And you said her trilogy... so there's definitely going to be three more books? I'm curious to see how this plays out!

Those comic covers are always so interesting.

    1. Have you read any of the books in this series? If you haven't, I highly recommend it! <3

  11. Diamond Fire was fantastic (and well worth the wait) but the page count is SUPER wrong... it is very much a novella. I read it in less than 2 hours and I am not a fast reader. lol

    1. Haha -- thanks for letting me know! My information came from Goodreads, so I'm sure someone will fix it soon. I'm a Goodreads Librarian, but I won't change something unless I have a physical copy to compare it to, or a request from an author or publisher.

I'm sooo happy you said it was fantastic! It's one of my most anticipated reads this year!
