I am really excited to be participating in the Ho Ho Ho Readathon this year! It's hosted by the lovely Kimberly over at the Caffeinated Reviewer, and the goal of the #HoHoHoRAT is to read (or listen to) as many books as you can with a holiday or winter theme.

I know this is a long list, and there is no way I'll be able to read all of them in nine days, but I wanted to give myself options. I'm 85% sure all of these meet the criteria of being a holiday or winter theme, but there are one or two I'm unsure about. If you've read one of these, and know for a fact is has nothing to do with winter or the holidays, please let me know and I will remove it from the list.
I included two re-reads that I would love to get to! They're both books I really enjoyed in the past. Also, if you're curious about my progress, you can always click on the image in the sidebar and it will redirect you to this post.
If you're using my Book Blogger Icon Tags, I made a few specifically for the Ho Ho Ho Readathon!
Kimberly has also made an adorable button for everyone to use! If you use it, make sure you give her credit and link back to her Ho Ho Ho Readathon post!
I say I am going to do this every year, but then I don't really have any holiday books to read at the time. You have some I really loved up there - One Day in December, My New Crush Gave to Me, My True Love Gave to Me, Let it Snow, Dash and Lily. I am pretty sure RR's story in My True Love Gave to Me is Almost Midnight, which was one of my faves in the anthology. Good luck!
ReplyDeleteYay! I'm glad you've enjoyed a lot of these! It makes me feel better about my choices. There really aren't too many books to choose from, and a lot of these have been around for a few years. I'm using this challenge to read some of the older books from my list, but a few of them are newer releases! There's a wait list for One Day in December at my library, so I went ahead and requested it. Hopefully it will be available in time!
DeleteI'm with Sam - I have one holiday book on my stack and honestly have never had the best luck with holiday themed books, which is actually kind of sad. But I am always optimistic and will be waiting to see if you love some of the books on your list. (I did love Bittersweet btw which I don't remember having a holiday theme but I think there was hockey, so cold at least? I'm sure I just forgot the holiday part!)

I used to own Bittersweet and its ARC. They changed the name... it was called something else before it was published, but I can't remember what that was. I don't think I own them anymore. They were probably donated at some point when I never found the time to read them. I guess I should have held on to a copy! :)
DeleteI don't normally search out holiday books, but there are a few I've been meaning to read. This readathon is the perfect excuse to finally read the books I've been putting off.
Don't forget you can read any genre, etc with a winter setting.
DeleteI think I'm going to stick with YA and Adult Romance! I want sweet, steamy, and enjoyable! <3
DeleteThis sounds so fun! I'll definitely keep an eye out, because I am looking for more holiday-themed books to read this year!
ReplyDeleteI'm hoping I can get through at least half of my list, but nine days really isn't that long. I wish it were longer -- two weeks or a month. Hopefully the ones I read are really great! <3
DeleteLooks like you have lots to choose from. Let It Snow is on my shelves somewhere. I think it’ll be a perfect read for this challenge.
ReplyDeleteI was thinking the same thing! Bonus: A lot of these will apply to this challenge AND the Beat the Backlist Challenge I'm participating in this year. Whoop!
DeleteGood luck on your reads. I hope you like them.
ReplyDeleteThanks! I'll be sure to post my thoughts as I go through them.
DeleteI've only read My True Love Gave to Me. Enjoy! I'm doing her Fraterfest Read-A-Thon this month.

Did you like My True Love Gave to Me? Did you have a favorite story? Ooh! What's the Fraterfest Read-A-Thon? I'm curious now! I've discovered challenges and readathons really push me to get to books I've been neglecting.
DeleteThanks for sharing. I have my books lined up and even found a few horror books that count
ReplyDeleteHorror?? I want my wintery reads to be romantic and heartwarming, haha. I feel like reading a horror holiday book would give me nightmares all December! ;)
DeleteI hope you enjoy them!
Aw the owl is so cute! <3 This sounds like an amazing readathon, but I'll be too busy to participate :(
ReplyDeleteHope you read some good ones!! :)
I've been trying to participate in more challenges and readathons. I feel like it motivates me to read some of the books I've been neglecting. Some of the books on this list have been on my TBR for years! I'm hoping to knock a few of them out.
DeleteI did this readathon a couple years ago, and I may have done it last year too, but I'm not sure I did well or finished. Hopefully this year I do better. I gotta start picking out my Christmas books...
ReplyDeleteYou have a little over a month to prepare! I've already started requesting books from my library so they'll be here on time. There's a wait list for a few of them. I'm also trying to figure out which books I want to read, and which books I want to listen to.
DeleteI hope you find a few that you want to read!
Oh this is such a fun readathon and you have such a great list of books there! I loved Girls Made of Snow and Glass, as well as Bittersweet and Let It Snow :) I hope you'll love the books you'll end up reading :D
ReplyDeleteThanks for letting me know! I'll try to squeeze those in first since I know you enjoyed them! I haven't read any reviews for these, so I'm not sure what to expect. It's going to be great! :)
DeleteNice list, although I'm not much on Christmas reads. Enjoy!
ReplyDeleteI normally avoid holiday books, which is why I was able to find so many on my TBR! These are the books that have caught my eye over the years, and now I'm going to try and read them all in nine days. <3
DeleteI plan on doing this as well as I have some Christmas books I really need to dive into as soon as Halloween passes. I think I'll just slate three to read during that time but it does look like you have some great books to chose from!
ReplyDeleteGood luck! I love doing things like this, because they push me to read the books I've been neglecting over the years. I've already read 50 books for the Beat the Backlist Challenge!
DeleteI panicked on your behalf looking at that list lol
ReplyDeleteGood luck!
Karen @ For What It's Worth
No need to panic! I'm not going to read all of them, haha. I just wanted to give myself options since I'm a mood reader. I think I have a nice variety! <3
DeleteIt's good to keep options open! The more, the merrier... ;)
ReplyDeleteBest of luck through this readathon - I'm sure you'll get through a good chunk, even if 23 seems daunting for 9 days!
Hah -- there's no way I'm reading all 23. I have three kids and they require a lot of attention, so I'll just squeeze in as many as I can. ;)
DeleteLove your big selection! It’s great to have options. I’m reading One Day in December right now. I’m so annoyed that I’ve had so little time to read in the last week because I just want to sit down and inhale the book! I really liked Frigid... JLA is an all-time fave and I tend to love everything she writes. :) I need to try and do a reread of My True Love Gave to me sometime in December. There were a couple stories that were kind of meh for me but several that I really loved. Can’t wait to see your progress! :)
ReplyDeleteI adore JLA and think she's a lovely person! I've really enjoyed her books in the past, and I'm not sure how I missed this one... oh, well. It's the perfect holiday read! I'm glad you enjoyed it. I can't wait to see your thoughts on One Day in December! I'm sure things will settle down once you get everything unpacked and put away.
DeleteI'm going to JLA's Origin event next month!! I cannot waaaaait! <3
So exciting that you're going to the Origin event! Can't wait to hear all about it... and see pics! :)
DeleteSome year, when I don't take on a ton of review books, I'll have to try something like this. Good luck with your challenge!
ReplyDeleteI've kept myself from requesting books to review, or accepting those that are unsolicited, so I can focus more on my backlog and the ARCs I already have. My goal is to be completely caught up before the beginning of the year. I'm so close, too!
DeleteYay!! I'm signed up for this one this year too! I did it a couple years ago and failed miserably, but that's fine. XD I'll be digging through your list to see if there's anything I can steal for my TBR!
ReplyDeleteYay! I'm happy someone else I know is participating. Feel free to dig through my list, but let me know if you find something amazing that's not on there! :)
DeleteI LOVED The Bear and the Nightingale. I hope that's one you choose to read! ⛄
ReplyDeleteNoted! I'll keep that one in mind when I'm trying to decide what to read next. <3
DeleteHow fun!
ReplyDeleteI think it's going to be a lot of fun! :)
DeleteYou have a great list of books to pick from. The Bear and the Nightingale has been on my list for awhile. Enjoy those you do pick.
ReplyDeleteYou're the second person to mention The Bear and the Nightingale, so I think it'll definitely be one that I get to before the readathon ends.
DeleteI still need to do my sign up post for this, but I'm excited to participate in this readathon again this year. Looks like you have a ton of great books to choose from :)
ReplyDeleteI look forward to seeing your list! I might want to steal something and add it to mine... ;)
DeleteThis sounds like fun! And your list is fantastic. I agree, it's better to have a long list so you can have lots of choices in case you feel like mood reading:-)
ReplyDeleteI think I will forever be a mood reader! It takes me forever to decide which book to read next, even when I have a ton that I need to read by a certain day. Hopefully I can stick to this list for the readathon!
DeleteI didn't know there was a book 2 for Dash and Lily! I remember thinking that book was fun way back when I read it, but I think I wanted more for them in the end. Maybe book 2 will give it. Good luck on your read-a-thon, Lindsi! Your buttons are cute. :)
ReplyDeleteI want to re-read Dash & Lily's Book of Dares before started the second one! I'm not sure if it's a full sequel or if it's more of a companion novel. I just added it to my list when I discovered its existence! I think it would be fun to read them back-to-back.
DeleteThanks! If you want to use the other buttons -- the ones for reviews -- there's a tab at the top. <3
I am so not ready for Christmas, but I do like the sound of this readathon nonetheless. The Night Circus and The Bear and the Nightingale are both favorites. I hope you enjoy all these reads!
ReplyDeleteYou're the third person to mention The Bear and the Nightingale! I think it might be the book I start with. I used to own The Night Circus, but I don't know what happened to it. Either I let someone borrow it (and it was never returned), or it got lost during a move. I feel like I lost one or two boxes of books when we moved from Georgia to Texas.
DeleteMy favourite Christmas read still has to be Dash and Lily's Book of Dares, the atmospheric snow covered new York is beautiful and makes such a lovely change from our inferno of heat around Christmas in Australia. I had no idea there were so many books set in and around the holiday season! Every year I'm searching for new ones and most seem to be romances. I'll be checking out a few of the young adult ones I've spotted on your list. Good luck with the challenge Linds, you'll kill it! ♡♡♡
ReplyDeleteI read Dash & Lily's Books of Dares a few years ago, so it's definitely time for re-read! I didn't know there was a second book. Did you? It's crazy how different our weather is, but it rarely snows here in Texas. My son has been asking for snow since he knew what it was, and we're hoping to move somewhere where it happens more often.
DeleteI'm not usually a holiday reader, but some of these have been on my TBR for years! I'm hoping to knock a few of them out next month.
WOW that's quite the list! It's good to have options, though. And you reminded me about One Day in December which I have and completely forgot about. I'll have to add that to my TBR for the readathon. Happy reading! :-)
ReplyDeleteI like having options! I never know what I'll be in the mood for, so I large selection is best. :)
DeleteI'm really looking forward to One Day in December! I'm happy you were able to remember something you'd forgotten. <3
