Goodreads): One thousand years ago, a wish was made to the Harbinger of Change and a sword of rage and lightning was forged. Kamigoroshi. The Godslayer. It had one task: to seal away the powerful demon Hakaimono.
Now he has broken free.
Kitsune shapeshifter Yumeko has one task: to take her piece of the ancient and powerful scroll to the Steel Feather temple in order to prevent the summoning of the Harbinger of Change, the great Kami Dragon who will grant one wish to whomever holds the Scroll of a Thousand Prayers. But she has a new enemy now. The demon Hakaimono, who for centuries was trapped in a cursed sword, has escaped and possessed the boy she thought would protect her, Kage Tatsumi of the Shadow Clan.
Hakaimono has done the unthinkable and joined forces with the Master of Demons in order to break the curse of the sword and set himself free. To overthrow the empire and cover the land in darkness, they need one thing: the Scroll of a Thousand Prayers. As the paths of Yumeko and the possessed Tatsumi cross once again, the entire empire will be thrown into chaos.

Eeeeeeeeep! I am thrilled about Soul of the Sword, because I absolutely loved Shadow of the Fox. It was one of my favorite reads last year! Julie Kagawa is an amazing author (loved the Iron Fey series, too), and I'm really looking forward to this sequel. The first book ended with a heartbreaking twist, and I desperately need to know what happens next! If you haven't read this series, or Kagawa, you definitely should!

I'm excited for Soul of the Swords too. I loved the first book!
ReplyDeleteIt was amazing! I really loved the characters and the rich atmosphere Kagawa created. She's such a talented author! Have you read her other books?
DeleteI hope this one lives up to Shadow of the Fox!! :)
ReplyDeleteMe too! Did you read the first book? I didn't think fantasy was your thing. ;) <3
DeleteNope, never read anything by Kagawa. Like you said, fantasy just isn’t my thing usually.
DeleteHaha! That's what I thought. Hey, have you read Match Me If You Can?
DeleteI've never read that author but Demons! I do like demons in stories and this sounds interesting.
ReplyDeleteI highly recommend Julie Kagawa's books! She has a vampire series that you might like. I've only read the first two books, so I'm not sure how it ends. Shadow of the Fox was amazing! I enjoy watching anime, and the story had a similar vibe.
DeleteI love Kagawa, but have not started this series. If you are excited about the sequel, it must be good. Hope the book is amazing!
ReplyDeleteShadow of the Fox ends with a bang! Kagawa doesn't leave you with a cliffhanger, but she does leave you needing to know more. Which of her books have you read? I love the Iron Fey series! I was always #TeamPuck, though. I do like Ash, but Puck! ;)
DeleteI love Kagawa, and I'm excited for this book too!!

Yay! I hope we both love it!! I need to know what happened to a certain someone, and how that situation is going to be resolved.
DeleteI REALLY need to start the Kagawa series. I've read other books by her and really enjoyed them. The covers on this series are so well done!
ReplyDeleteAgreed! I've really enjoyed every Kagawa book I've read. The Iron Fey series has always been my favorite, but Shadow of the Fox was just SO GOOD. I think it might have surpassed Meghan, Ash, and Puck. ;)
DeleteThe cover for Soul of the Sword is so pretty! I've yet to read anything by Kagawa but I hear only good things.
ReplyDeleteWhat?! I'm so surprised! I feel like her books would be perfect for you (based on other things you've read/reviewed). I recommend starting with Shadow of the Fox, then dipping your toes into the Iron Fey series, unless vampires are more your thing. :)
DeleteCovers make me want to read all the books! ๐ฑ This one sounds wonderful. ๐✨
ReplyDeleteYou haven't read Shadow of the Fox?? I think you'd love it!!
DeleteI really need to read Shadow of the Fox! The covers are beautiful!!

Yes! You really, really do! ;) I love Julie Kagawa, and I think this might be my favorite series of hers. It was the Iron Fey series, but damn this one is good.
