The Sunday Post [31]

The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimberly at the Caffeinated Reviewer! It's an opportunity to share news, post a recap for the previous week, showcase books, and highlight what's planned for the week ahead.

News:

Heee's baaack! Most of you don't know this (because I rarely talked about it), but my husband has been deployed since February. Friends, it was not easy. Relationships are hard enough without thousands of miles separating you, and the monsters missed their dad like crazy. Thankfully, he's home now (and right on time for our son's Thanksgiving break). We've been spending a lot of quality time together as a family, which is why I've been absent from the blog and social media.

We've been together through short hair and long, good times and bad, and three children (so far). It's never been easy, but he's definitely worth the effort. We've both made mistakes, but we've also put time and energy into making our marriage and family work. He's my best friend, my partner in crime, and he has my heart. We're better than the worse things we've ever done, and we'll continue to work on ourselves and our marriage while enjoying everything life has to offer.

Previous week on the blog:

Tuesday: NA
Wednesday: NA
Thursday: The Light at the Bottom of the World by London Shah [Blog Tour: Spotlight & Giveaway]
Friday: NA

What I'm currently reading:

Opposite of Always by Justin A. Reynolds
Fireborne (The Aurelian Cycle, #1) by Rosaria Munda

What I plan on reading next:

The Bride Test (The Kiss Quotient, #2) by Helen Hoang
Coral by Sara Ella

What I'm watching:

We watched Avengers: Endgame last night! We've always watched Marvel movies as a family, which is why we're just now getting to this one. We still need to watch the newest Spider-Man movie, and the one with Captain Marvel. I think those are the only ones released while he was deployed... I could be missing one. I enjoyed Avengers: Endgame, although I didn't agree with some of the decisions that were made. I thought it was a nice conclusion to the storyline they've been building for years.

Challenge updates:

  3. Well, you made me cry. Welcome home to your husband, and obviously, a thank you for his service. What a wonderful gift to have him home for the holidays. I am going to cross my fingers and hope you don't hate Opposite of Always (it's a fave of mine), and I loved TBT too. Hoang is a gift to the contemporary romance world.

    1. I've cried a lot this week myself. ;) The girl's will be three next weekend, so it's nice that he'll be here for that. Thanksgiving is also our favorite holiday, so yay! I'm enjoying Opposite of Always so far, but I'm getting annoying with his behavior at the moment. I know WHY he's doing it, and can only hope he learns from his mistakes. Hoang is AMAZING. TKQ is one of my all-time favorites! <3

    1. Managing three kids solo? Piece of cake! If the cake was destroyed and smeared all over the walls and furniture. ;) The last year has had its challenges, but we made it work! <3

  13. Great pics LOL - especially the facial mask one! You REALLY do everything together ๐Ÿ˜‰.

"Deployed" means that he was in service somewhere? (no, I'm not asking where LOL. Just unsure about the term's meaning).

    Have a great Thanksgiving together!

    1. I think that was the one and only time he did a facial mask with me! ;) My husband is in the Army, and he's been in Africa for the last nine months. They call it a deployment when they have to leave and serve somewhere without their families (or will be in a combat environment).

  17. I didn't realise your husband was deployed (although I remember you mentioning long ago he was military), glad you've got him home! Love the photos and all you wrote about your relationship... I feel ya! I've been with my husband since we were 18/19 years old and it takes work but it's worth it.

Hope your Thanksgiving was a good one!

    1. I didn't talk about his deployment much! Relationships are haaard. You have to be willing to put in the effort required to make it work. I don't always like my husband, but he's my best friend and I would do anything for him. We're different people, we like different things, but we love spending time together and being a family. I've learned a lot over the years, and a big one was to just LET THINGS GO. Especially the small stuff that doesn't really matter in the end. It's like with my kids... I have to pick my battles or we'd be fighting all the time, haha. <3
