๐ฒ I know this looks like a lot, but it's really not! Haha. Greg from Greg's Book Haven suggested Scooby Apocalypse a few weeks ago, and I finally broke down and bought the first six TPs (trade paperbacks). Note: a trade paperback is usually six regular comics compiled into one book, but that's not always the case... sometimes it's an entire miniseries or story arc reprinted into a single book. It's helpful with ongoing series, because it allows you to catch up quickly, and without having to track down all of the previous single issues.
I'm really excited about Kelly Thompson's Jessica Jones Blind Spot! Two of my favorite people! Rising Sun and Dragon Age Blue Wraith are both new, but look really interesting. I'm still enjoying Jim Henson's The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance and Undiscovered Country is fucking brilliant.
Speaking of Undiscovered Country, we ordered a signed copy of both it and Hawkeye Freefall. ๐ Charles Soule, Scott Snyder, and Matthew Rosenberg are some of our favorite writers, so this is epically awesome!
Can't Wait Wednesday is a weekly event, hosted by Tressa at Wishful Endings, that highlights upcoming releases that we're anticipating and excited to read. It's a spinoff of the feature Waiting on Wednesday that was hosted by Jill at Breaking the Spine.
Birdie and Me by J.M.M. Nuanez
Expected publication: February 18th 2020
|
Synopsis (via Goodreads): A stunning debut about a girl named Jack and her gender creative little brother, Birdie, searching for the place where they can be their true and best selves.
After their mama dies, Jack and Birdie find themselves without a place to call home. And when Mama's two brothers each try to provide one--first sweet Uncle Carl, then gruff Uncle Patrick--the results are funny, tender, and tragic.
They're also somehow . . . spectacular.
With voices and characters that soar off the page, J. M. M. Nuanez's debut novel depicts an unlikely family caught in a situation none of them would have chosen, and the beautiful ways in which they finally come to understand one another.

I saw Scooby Apocalypse on Greg's blog too and thought that was interesting and looked fun.
ReplyDeleteI grew up watching Scooby Doo! My kids have started watching it occasionally now, and it brings back so many memories. My brother and I would watch it together after school. As soon as Greg mentioned Scooby Apocalypse (and I saw they were older), I knew it was something I had to try. :)
DeleteOoh Scooby Apoc! Woot! Heck I'm not even on Vol. 6 yet lolo... I need to get my ass in gear and catch up. I loved the first few... and Undiscovered Country I just discovered this week, I need to read those too.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the shout out! :)
Vol. 6 was JUST released on Wednesday, so you shouldn't be too far behind! They were on sale and I couldn't resist. :) UNDISCOVERED COUNTRY IS AWESOME.
DeleteScooby Apocalypse sounds like it would be pretty interesting. I will have to check it out and see what it is.
ReplyDeleteI would tell you, but I don't know either! I remember Greg talking about it, but not the specifics of the story. :)
DeleteBirdie and Me sounds like such a sweet story!
ReplyDeleteI have a feeling it's going to tug on people's heartstrings. <3
DeleteWe were at the comic store this weekend! The little dude grabbed issue no 1 of a new Spider-Ham comic. We were looking for issue 10 of the new Shazam series but we were a few days too early as it doesn't release until next week... Oops. Another trip on the cards soon!
ReplyDeleteBirdie and Me sounds like an emotional one! I hope you enjoy it.
I saw Spider-Ham, but it's not one that interests me. ;) How is he liking Shazam? Yay for more trips to the comic book store! <3
DeleteBirdie and Me sounds like it will be a good one! Jessica Jones Blind Spot interests me as well. I hope you enjoy all of these!
ReplyDeleteI hope Birdie and Me is as good as it sounds! It's been ages since I read a comic with JJ, so I'm really looking forward to it. :)
DeleteBirdie and me sounds wonderful! Thanks for the heads up! ๐✨
ReplyDeleteI'm always happy to help feed other people's TBR monsters. ;)
