This is going to be our last full week in Texas! Can you believe it? I can't! There's still so much to do. 😰 Movers will be here at the end of the week to start packing our belongings, so I'll likely be MIA until February.

We had a surprise party for our son over the weekend! We wanted him to be able to celebrate with his friends before we moved (his birthday is actually next month). I did some midnight baking the night before, and made lightsabers out of cupcakes! We also took every age-appropriate board game we had and dubbed his party the Board Game Birthday Bash! Surprisingly, it was the adults that started a really competitive game of charades. 😂
I really wanted to visit my grandparents before we moved (they live one state over), but they both have the flu, and that's not something we want to travel with. Can you imagine?? The horror! Hopefully we can make a trip in the not-so-distant future.

What I'm watching:
We recently discovered Kipo on Netflix, and now we're addicted! Like, two-episodes-a-day addicted. The music is fantastic, the story is super creative, and the characters are amazing. I've already had to explain to my son what a few things are: apocalypse, dystopian, mutation, and some scientific terms (parsec, tardigrade, etc.). It's building his vocabulary! Also, the rap about science was golden. I highly recommend this one, if you're not watching it already!

Your poor grandparents. I had the flu once, and it was one of the worst experiences of my life. I hope they aren't suffering too much. Good luck with the move. I hope you and your family are able to settle in quickly.
ReplyDeleteI had the flu when I was pregnant with my first child! They couldn't give me the medicine you'd normally receive for it, so I was left to suffer for days. I know my grandparents are struggling because of their age, and it's making it hard for them to get around. My uncle still lives nearby, and my cousins, so I'm sure someone is checking on them regularly.

He did! He was so surprised to! I don't think he knew how to feel or what to think, because he just sort of stared at everyone when he came inside, haha. We all had a wonderful time, and I'm happy we were able to make it work before the move.
DeleteI was hoping to get to What I Carry before it's release date, but I don't think I can read it all before tomorrow. :)

I'm so happy we thought to do that before it was too late! Movers will be here in a few days -- AHHH. I'm both dreading and looking forward to it, haha. Once it's over, I'll be thrilled.

ReplyDeleteThank you! I'm happy they tasted okay. I wasn't able to try one beforehand, since the three batches made JUST enough for all of the lightsabers. :) I am so, so ready for the move to be behind us, and not this thing that's looming overhead.

Thanks! We still have some stuff to do on our end before the movers get here, but then we can focus on how we want to split up our drive. :)
DeleteWhat a great party! Love the cupcake light sabers. Sounds like the adults had as much fun as the kids. :) I hope your grandparents feel better soon! Flu is never a good thing but it’s extra serious for seniors. I hope the next week goes smoothly as you prepare for the move!
ReplyDeleteI feel like everything is extra serious for seniors! They fall down and something always seems to break. :/ They've been in and out of the hospital for this or that fall, and I'm sure that's where they picked up the flu. They don't really go anywhere unless they have to these days. It's one of the reasons I really wanted to see them before we left.

Thanks! I'm not sure he knew what to do/think, so he just sort of stands there and smiles awkwardly for awhile, haha. I think he relaxes a bit once he sees Allie (his cousin), because they are BEST BUDS. I loved that one of the girls attempted to tackle him when he wasn't moving. :)
