My Weekly Pull is something I do every Wednesday to show which comics I had pulled for me that week! If you're into comics, or you're looking to start, please join me! If you decide to do your own post, there's a link-up at the bottom. I would love to stop by and check it out!
I don't have anything this week! They've slowly started releasing comics (after their shutdown due to the coronavirus), and not all of the publishers have determined exactly how or when they will be released. We're just taking it one week at a time!
Instead, I'm going to highlight an upcoming comic that I'm really excited for! It's a Double Can't-Wait Wednesday this week. ;)
WYND introduces readers to a world where magical heritage is punishable by death, so a young boy named Wynd must keep his true identity – and pointy ears – a secret from everyone in Pipetown, even if it means he’ll never have the normal life he wants. But when his secret is threatened, Wynd is forced to leave his home behind to embark on a dangerous quest that will put him at the heart of a royal conspiracy beyond his imagination.
Now on the run with the boy of his dreams, his best friend Oakley, and a literal prince, Wynd will have to embrace the magic within himself if he wants to save them from the shocking dangers that await!
Print copies of WYND #1 will be available for sale on June 17, 2020 at local comic book shops (use comicshoplocator.com to find the nearest one) or at the BOOM! Studios webstore. Digital copies can be purchased from content providers, including comiXology, iBooks, Google Play, and Madefire.
Additional covers you can choose from:
Can't Wait Wednesday is a weekly feature that's hosted by Tressa at Wishful Endings. It highlights the upcoming releases we're really excited about reading! CWW is a spinoff of the feature Waiting on Wednesday (WoW), that was started by Jill at Breaking the Spine.
The Boys in the Back Row by Mike Jung
Expected publicatoin: October 6th 2020 by Levine Querido
Synopsis (via Goodreads): Best friends Matt and Eric are hatching a plan for one big final adventure together before Eric moves away: during the marching band competition at a Giant Amusement Park, they will sneak away to a nearby comics convention and meet their idol – a famous comic creator. Without cell phones. Or transportation. Or permission. Of course, their final adventure together is more than just that – really, it’s a way for the boys to celebrate their friendship, and their honest love and support for one another.

The Boys in the Back Row sounds like such a fun middle grade story. :)
ReplyDeleteI love that they disappear to go to a comic convention! 1) As a parent I would be horrified if they didn't take their cell phones and were on a school trip of some kind, but 2) love the idea of it being for something that I also enjoy. :) One "final adventure" has to be fun, right? <3
DeleteThe delay on the comic releases is frustrating but understandable... We don't buy/read anywhere near the volume of comics you do but the little dude has been reading the new Shazam series since volume 1 (it's the first series he's every followed from the beginning) and his pre-order for #12 keeps moving back. It has apparently released now but we still haven't received our copy as the comic store is still waiting on delivery from the distributor. :(
ReplyDeleteWynd sounds very cool. I'll need to suggest that one to him.
Apparently, DC comics decided to go another route with how they distribute comics (who they use, I think), which is affecting everyone else. It's why you can already see a lot of their stuff back on shelves and available online, but not much from Marvel, IDW, Boom! Studios, etc. I've never read Shazam, but I'm happy your son has found something he likes! Hopefully his pre-ordered issue arrives soon, and they're able to sort everything out.
DeleteI am PUMPED for Wynd! <3
