It Came From the Sky by Chelsea Sedoti
Expected publication: August 4th 2020 by Sourcebooks Fire
Synopsis (via Goodreads): From the author of The Hundred Lies of Lizzie Lovett and As You Wish comes the unforgettable story of the one small town's biggest hoax and the two brothers who started it all.
This is the absolutely true account of how Lansburg, Pennsylvania was invaded by aliens and the weeks of chaos that followed. There were sightings of UFOs, close encounters, and even abductions. There were believers, Truth Seekers, and, above all, people who looked to the sky and hoped for more.
Only...there were no aliens.
Gideon Hofstadt knows what really happened. When one of his science experiments went wrong, he and his older brother blamed the resulting explosion on extraterrestrial activity. And their lie was not only believed by their town―it was embraced. As the brothers go to increasingly greater lengths to keep up the ruse and avoid getting caught, the hoax flourishes. But Gideon's obsession with their tale threatened his whole world. Can he find a way to banish the aliens before Lansburg, and his life, are changed forever?
Told in a report format and comprised of interviews, blog posts, text conversations, found documents, and so much more, It Came from the Sky is a hysterical and resonant novel about what it means to be human in the face of the unknown.

I love the idea of some sci-fi right now!
ReplyDeleteI don't normally grab sci-fi books, but this one is marketed as sci-fi/fantasy! The combination has piqued my interest. :)
DeleteIt Came From the Sky sounds like a great read!
ReplyDeleteIt definitely sounds unique!
DeleteOoh It Came From the Sky sounds really good. I'm such a sucker for books told in different formats. As for the comics, I'm super curious about Wicked Things!

Yes! Me too. I love it when a book's format adds another layer to the story. Have you read To Night Owl from Dogfish? It's told through emails between two girls. While I absolutely loved how the story was told, all of the "Re:re:re:re:re...." made the audiobook a little frustrating. Sometimes there were like 50! It would go on and on until they changed the subject of the email. ๐ Wicked Things had an appealing first issue, so I'm interested to see how it continues!
DeleteNow there's a good retro book cover!
ReplyDeleteRight? It definitely has Poster Potential. ;)
DeleteSpeaking of Retro covers... have you seen The Little Occult Book Club cover? Oh my ♥️. Might have to be exactly 37 or something to appreciate it but it fully represents early childhood to me.
DeleteThat sounds like a lot of fun.
ReplyDeleteThe comics or the book? ;)
DeleteI have never read a Daredevil comic. I guess he always seemed so... serious? I just finished the Black Widow AND Hawkeye series and he was in both of them so now I am intrigued. Is there any humor? My pull list this week was only Doctor Aphra #2 so obviously need to add a few more titles :)
ReplyDeleteIf you want to start reading Daredevil, I recommend Zdarsky's run. It's fantastic! There's not as much humor in DD (Hawkeye is just a less serious character), but it has its moments. :)
DeleteI loved reading the Little Golden Books to my daughter, and she always enjoys them :) It Came From the Sky sound like a great Sci-Fi!

My mom always bought the Little Golden Books for me and my brother. <3
