If This Gets Out by Sophie Gonzales, Cale Dietrich
Expected publication: December 7th 2021 by Wednesday Books
Synopsis (via Goodreads): “If This Gets Out is an absolute showstopper! Equal parts edgy and adorable, this bright, joyful book has everything I look for in a queer YA romance.” —Phil Stamper, bestselling author of The Gravity of Us
Eighteen-year-olds Ruben Montez and Zach Knight are two members of the boy-band Saturday, one of the biggest acts in America. Along with their bandmates, Angel Phan and Jon Braxton, the four are teen heartbreakers in front of the cameras and best friends backstage. But privately, cracks are starting to form: their once-easy rapport is straining under the pressures of fame, and Ruben confides in Zach that he’s feeling smothered by management’s pressure to stay in the closet.
On a whirlwind tour through Europe, with both an unrelenting schedule and minimal supervision, Ruben and Zach come to rely on each other more and more, and their already close friendship evolves into a romance. But when they decide they’re ready to tell their fans and live freely, Zach and Ruben start to truly realize that they will never have the support of their management. How can they hold tight to each other when the whole world seems to want to come between them?

DeleteI am excited to see how that collaboration goes. I think it will be fantastic
ReplyDeleteI love collaborations! Hopefully this one doesn't disappoint. ;)
DeleteHuge fan of Sophie Gonzales! Definitely looking forward to this one. :)
ReplyDeleteI hope we both love it! <3
DeleteThis sounds like it could be a very emotional read - how hard to be told that you have to hide your true self!
ReplyDeleteI feel like it's an accurate representation of what a lot of people are going through today. Whether it's their parents or a boss, people feel like they have to hide pieces of themselves just to make their lives a little easier.
DeleteWas If This Gets Out inspired by One Direction or did I make that up?
ReplyDeleteI haven't heard that! If you find out that you're right, please let me know. :)
DeleteManagement sounds terrible. Fans are usually the first ones to want a band to tell the truth and succeed.
ReplyDeleteTrue fans wouldn't care! They'd be happy for them.
DeleteI've watched many friends cry over If This Gets Out on my timeline and hope you enjoy it
ReplyDeleteCry??? I don't know if I can handle a sad book right now, haha. ๐
DeleteI'll have to check out Specter Inspector. ๐
ReplyDeleteI'm really loving it!
