The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimberly at the Caffeinated Reviewer! It's an opportunity to share news, post a recap for the previous week, showcase books, and highlight what's planned for the week ahead.
News:
YOU GUYS! LOOK HOW PRETTY MY BLOG IS! Kat from Waffley Cute Designs has created a new look for my site, and I am thrilled with how everything turned out. She did the blog header, social media icons, profile picture (cartoon version), and post dividers. Once she was finished, I spent several hours toying with my blog's html (my poor brain ๐
) and FINALLY got everything resized and perfectly placed. I also changed the colors so that everything matched (thanks for the color palette, Kat)! Originally, Kat was going to make sidebar headers, but it ended up being too complex (all the fonts I wanted to use were only available for personal use). Luckily, I stumbled across a new font that I love, so everything worked out. It's hard to see, but the letters have little hearts in them!
Edit: New font isn't working because I need to add some additional coding that allows it to be seen by others, but I'll do that later. Right now I'm going to sleep!
Edit: I tried ALL DAY but could not get the font to work. I'm using a different one because my brain needs a break, haha.
Seriously, I started working on this around 9PM and now it's 2:25AM. I have spent HOURS of my life working on this, and I am SO HAPPY WITH THE RESULTS. I'm sure I'll make small adjustments over the next few weeks, but all of the really hard work is out of the way.
My son is officially finished with 1st grade! Hello, summer and lazy mornings. ๐ My new job has been keeping me out late, so I am very glad I don't have to wake up at 6AM for a while. We've been going to the beach, hitting up all the playgrounds, and generally enjoying ourselves this week. Our local library is open and hosting events again, the weather has been beautiful, summer soccer has started - it's just been a really nice week.
My girls had their ballet recital this weekend, so we've been busy with that the last few days!
For those of you that follow me on Instagram, you've probably seen me posting pictures of beads and projects I'm working on. I have a friend that's teaching me more about my Native American culture, and beadwork is something that's been passed down through her family for generations. My mom was never a really crafty person, so I'm glad I'm finally getting the chance to learn now. My monsters have even shown an interest and asked me to teach them how to do it.

ReplyDeleteHave great upcoming week :)
Thank you! I am really happy with it! I couldn't figure out the one font, but that's okay. I only wasted two days trying to get it to work, haha. ;) Everything else is great!
DeleteLove all the new graphics! Kat is really talented. Hope the recital went well. The picture on IG was adorable.
ReplyDeleteMe too! Kat's amazing. She was also really helpful and willing to work with me until everything was perfect. :) The recital was fun! The girls enjoyed watching the other groups perform, and then they had fun dancing on the stage themselves. <3
DeleteOMG! The cuteness of this blog is a 10!! Love it!!
ReplyDeleteThank you! I'm really happy with it. <3

ReplyDeleteI know how it feels! You start working and reworking and tweaking and fixing and...HOURS have gone by, and you're exhausted, but giddy. To your (and Kat's) credit, it looks awesome! Plus it ties in with the cartoon part of your blog so nicely. I love the book dog haha. And the cord that goes on to form the subtitle? Clever and cute!
May I ask where you're working now? I mean, you don't need to be specific ๐.
I'm glad you've found a way to connect with your roots in a more intimate way, so to speak. I'm like your mom...not a crafty person, LOL.
SO. MANY. HOURS. I'm exhausted but happy it's all done! I didn't end up using the one font I really liked, but oh well. I still like how this one looks. :)
DeleteThanks! Kat is super talented and managed to take my scrambled thoughts and ideas and turn them into something pretty. <3
Me too! The beadwork is very time-consuming, but in a good way.
I love your new blog design! The header has a modern-retro combo vibe. Very cool! Your current reads sound good. I can't wait for Kill All Your Darlings. I love David Bell's books. Enjoy your week!
ReplyDeleteHere’s my Sunday Post post this week. — Diana
Kill All Your Darlings is really good so far! It's my first book by the author, but I'm enjoying the writing. :)
DeleteLove the new look - it's so energetic! All the fun family time sounds great, too!
ReplyDeleteThank you! I'm really happy with it. I liked the way it used to look, but this one is more personalized, you know? It feels like ME. :)
DeleteI love the new blog layout, and congrats to your 1st grade graduate!
ReplyDeleteThank you and thank you! Lots to be happy about this week. ;)
DeleteHey I'm glad to see you and hear about all your happenings. I hope you enjoy your kids' summer break. I like the new blog design!
ReplyDeleteAnne - Books of My Heart This is my Sunday Post
Thanks! I think we all really needed this summer break, haha. I was feeling spread a little thin towards the end of the school year.
DeleteI love the new look. I had thought about changing things on my blog but a couple of my friends changed things and lost most of their posts so I haven't been brave enough to do anything. lol
ReplyDeleteI only changed the blog's aesthetics, so I wasn't too worried about losing content. You should definitely do what makes you happy though! I thought it was time for a new look. Something that fit my personality a little more.
DeleteI wasn't here for your previous blog design but love how everything is looking now! It looks like you're making pretty good progress on your challenges :)
ReplyDelete-Megan @ Bookstacks & Golden Moms
Haha, I appreciate it! I'm actually a little bummed with my progress this year, but I'm trying not to be too hard on myself. It's been a weird year for sure. :)
DeleteLove the new look of the blog, especially that little doggie at the top.
ReplyDeleteCheers to lazy summer mornings!
Thank you! I really love the book dog, too! :)
DeleteYour new blog look is so beautiful!! I love it. And that's awesome you have a friend teaching you beading and more about your Native American culture. I hope your girl's recital went well! And yay for your son being on summer break. Hopefully your new job is going well, even if you are working some late nights.
